13) Common extent for estimating groundwater-level and groundwater storage-volume change, Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: July 16, 2025 | Last Modified: 20221227
This polygon represents the areal extent used to estimate groundwater-level and groundwater storage-volume change in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada. Each groundwater-level dataset used in this study (1970, 1995, 2006, 2020) contained a unique areal extent because the monitoring wells used to create each dataset was different and as a result, the extent of groundwater-level contours differed. Defining a common extent among all datasets was needed to evaluate water-level change and groundwater storage-volume change using a consistent approach.
