Gearbox Fault Diagnosis Data

Published by Prestige Institute of Engineering Management and Research (PIEMR) | Department of Energy | Metadata Last Checked: October 09, 2025 | Last Modified: 2025-10-08T17:58:24Z
This dataset is for the fault diagnosis of a gear crack in a two-stage gearbox using vibration signal processing techniques and recorded by using SpectraQuest's Gearbox Fault Diagnostics Simulator. The online vibration data were recorded with the help of four vibration sensors placed in four different directions. It was recorded under variation of load from 0 to 90 percent for a set of normal gear (healthy condition) and cracked gear (broken tooth condition), on Drivetrain Diagnostics Simulator. Spectral analysis is carried out for a healthy gear and a cracked gear to demonstrate modulation sidebands from cracked and normal spur gear vibration measurements. The amplitude of sidebands can be used as an input parameter in various artificial intelligence techniques for fault detection. Ten different text files are available for each case. In the linked paper (see "Publication" below) experimental study has been done to find relation between incipient gear crack at different loading conditions and amplitude of sidebands.
