Louisiana's Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) elevation data

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Metadata Last Checked: July 16, 2025 | Last Modified: 20210426
Wetland restoration efforts conducted by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in Louisiana rely on monitoring efforts to determine the efficacy of these efforts. The Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) was developed to assist in a multiple-reference approach that uses aspects of hydrogeomorphic functional assessments and probabilistic sampling for monitoring. The CRMS program includes a suite of approximately 390 sites that encompass the range of hydrological and ecological conditions for each stratum. Each site has a suite of vegetation, elevation, and hydrological stations that have a known elevation from surveys tied to nearby primary and secondary elevation monuments. This dataset includes elevations for rod surface elevation table (RSET) stations, vegetation stations, and associated secondary monuments from 2014-2020.
